Frank M. Cavanaugh was born in Denver Colorado. He graduated with honors from Regis University in 1986 with degrees in History and Computer Information Systems. After receiving a scholarship to Gonzaga University School of Law, Frank received his Juris Doctorate in 1991. Frank was a member of the Gonzaga Law Review. Frank has been admitted to practice law in Colorado since 1991.
Frank has since worked exclusively in the insurance defense industry. Since 1999 he has worked as staff counsel for two of the largest commercial insurers in the state of Colorado serving as the practice group leader for both companies. In this capacity Frank’s focus was on litigation cost containment and uniform file handling. He has extensive experience in representing employers and insurers in workers’ compensation, general liability, subrogation and employment cases. Frank has been recognized as an expert in the area of workers’ compensation and has presented as a speaker on several occasions for Continuing Legal Education of Colorado. Frank’s experience includes, trials, hearings and arguments before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. His published cases include: Jefferson County School Dist., R-1 v. Goldsmith, 878 P.2d 116 (Colo. App. 1994); Rendon v. United Airlines, 881 P.2d 482 (Colo. App. 1994) and Pace Membership Warehouse v. Axelson, 938 P.2d 504 (Colo. 1997)
Frank is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association. Frank is the past co-chair of its Workers’ Compensation Section of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association.
